Peoria City 0-2 Chicago City SC
Photo Essay: USL League Two, Heartland Division at Shea Stadium (Bradley University), Peoria, Illinois
The third of three home games that opened their season, Peoria went into this game hoping to build some momentum ahead of a four-game home stand. They were frustrated by a well-organized Chicago City team who closed down the midfield and kept the ball well. When Peoria were able to regain possession, they were unable to pass through or over Chicago’s press, and didn’t have the pace to execute speedy counter-attacks. The result put Chicago City top of the Heartland division despite having less points than Des Moines, because of the goofy way USL League Two calculates standings (and because Chicago City’s victory over the Menace mean they have 3.0 points per game).
